1985 Fleer is a 660 card set. Card fronts feature a full color photo, team logo along with the player's name and position. The borders enclosing the photo are color-coded to correspond to the player's team. The black and white photo on the reverse is included for the third straight year. The cards are ordered alphabetically within team. The teams are ordered based on their respective performance during the prior year with the 1984 World Series champion Detroit Tigers leading the set off.

Subsets include Super Star Specials (626-643) and the debut of the dual-player Major League Prospects (644-653). Rookie Cards include Roger Clemens, Eric Davis, Shawon Dunston, John Franco, Dwight Gooden, Orel Hershiser, Jimmy Key, Mark Langston, Terry Pendleton, Kirby Puckett and Bret Saberhagen.
