20 packs per box, 5 cards per pack

The second edition of Fleer Mystique was released in August 2000. The base set consists of 175 cards -- the last 50 making up a short-printed and serial-numbered to 2000 copies "Prospects" subset. Unlike the wildly successful 1999 Mystique, the rookie selection (Johan Santana notwithstanding) was less than stellar and not every pack had a "covered" card.

The "covered" cards were randomly inserted into packs. All of the inserts (except for the Club 3000 cards), parallels and short-printed "Prospects" were inserted into packs with an opaque "sparkly" covering (on both sides of the card) that had to be peeled away to reveal the card -- hence the name "Mystique." Each 20-pack Hobby box should yield 13 "covered" cards: two serial-numbered "Prospects," one Gold parallel, and 10 inserts.

In addition, Fresh Ink on-card autographs came every-other box, and Feel the Game game-used cards were seeded every sixth box. Fortunately, the "hits" were not covered by a "sparkly covering."

The only rookie of note is of Johan Santana, and among the Fresh Ink cards is the first ever on-card autograph of Hideo Nomo.
