2004 Fleer Tradition is a 500-card set released in a single series in January, 2004. Like previous Fleer Tradition sets, the design of the base set is loosely based on a previous set; in this case 1990 Fleer. The last 100 cards in the base set are short-printed. This set has these topical subsets: Cards 1 through 10 feature World Series highlights, Cards 11-40 feature Team Leaders. In the higher numbers cards 446 through 462 feature young players in an "Standout" subset which cards 462 through 471 feature players who won major awards in 2003. The set concludes with a 30-card three player prospect set which features leading prospects for each of the major league teams.
